Travelling Solo: It’s Not as Daunting as You Might Think!

Travelling Solo: It’s Not as Daunting as You Might Think!

If you haven’t travelled solo before, the idea might seem a bit overwhelming to you. But holidaying abroad by yourself can be immensely rewarding – especially if you join a tour group! Here’s a look at some of the perks of travelling by yourself.

Make New Friends

At Albatross, the Europe tours are designed specifically for Australians and New Zealanders. Since all your fellow travellers are friendly, easy-going and from a similar culture, it’s not difficult at all to make new friends. Knowing that the majority of the tour group will be Aussies definitely helps people feel more comfortable when travelling by themselves.

On my recent Albatross tour, I never felt uneasy about being solo. Right from the beginning, at the welcome dinner, I made connections with others straight away. Within the first 2 or 3 days, you’ll most likely find yourself getting to know your companions and forging genuine friendships with them.

There are a few singles on most tours, so you shouldn’t worry about being the only person exploring Europe solo!

Explore the Way You Want To

When travelling with family or friends, you often have to make compromises. You might want to see one thing, while someone else wants to see another. Or maybe you’ll want a relaxing day close to the hotel, while someone else wants a sightseeing day packed with attractions.

A great benefit of travelling solo is that you don’t have to stress about keeping everyone happy – you can just do the things you want to! In other words, you can travel at your own pace and see everything you’d like to see without having to sacrifice your top priorities due to time restraints.

Whether you fancy seeing the famous landmarks, visiting museums and galleries, strolling neighbourhood streets or having a leisurely lunch in a quaint town square, travelling alone means the choice is always yours (well, at least on leisure days!).

Skip All the Tedious Details

When you’re planning to travel independently, there’s an intimidating number of tasks you have to complete, such as organising transport from stop to stop, booking accommodation and planning your itinerary. If you’re departing alone, this can all seem even more overwhelming!

If you choose to join a tour, however, this is all taken care of for you. This is one of the top reasons touring is a great option for solo travellers. Plus, your tour manager is an invaluable resource when it comes to recommending where to go and where to eat. This is especially helpful when you’re travelling by yourself because you don’t have someone else to help you make these tough decisions!

Enjoy Affordable Single Supplements

Albatross Tours offers very reasonably priced single supplements on most tours. In most hotels, solo travellers will be offered a double room for single use. This means when travelling on an Albatross tour you will mostly have a hotel room to yourself with either a double bed or two twin rooms.
