Scandinavia, In the Footsteps of Vikings— 21 Days

NEW FOR 2019!

A truly innovative and different 21 day tour of Scandinavia. Yes, we visit Copenhagen and Oslo. Naturally we stay in the heart of beautiful Bergen, in the arctic capital of Tromso and in UNESCO Geiranger, and of course we ride the Flam Railway and cruise down fjords and take dramatic drives. We also add stays in charming Stavanger with its quaint old town 18th century alleys, and in picture perfect Balestrand, beside a fjord. To complete the picture we stay 3 nights in historic fisherman’s cottages, and enjoy a famous Hurtigruten Coastal Cruise to the Lofoten Islands.

And, then we include so much more. We dine in Molde with a panoramic view over 200 peaks, visit Kristiansund, descend into WWII German Bunkers in Bud, before driving the length of the Atlanterhavsvegen - Atlantic Highway - voted ‘The most beautiful coastal drive in the World’. Ascending the Geiranger Skywalk on the Dalsnibba Pass you will be astonished, standing on top of the Trolls Road you be stunned, but it will be Lofoten Islands drive through Reine to Å, which will truly take your breath away.

Other highlights? Visit Norway’s largest Viking Long House, cruise along the scenic Lysefjord to view the iconic Pulpit Rock (walkers… yes we give you a chance to climb it! The views atop are incredible). Enjoy an included fjord kayaking excursion or a speedboat ride to Jules Verne’s Maelstrom, visit delightful Nusfjord, stroll through the Viking village in Gudvangen, and stand beneath the Boyabreen glacier…. and that’s just for starters!

Sardinia & Corsica, the Lands of Myths and Legends— 14 Days

NEW FOR 2019!

Two islands, so different, so intriguing. One Italian, one French, both fiercely independent.

Ancient Sardinia, with its huge stone ‘Nuraghe’ Tower villages, as old as the Pyramids, which litter the inland landscape – a landscape which contrasts so dramatically with the azure waters of the Costa Smeralda archipelago bristling with modern mega yachts and designer stores. In the south Cagliari exudes the glorious rich emotions of Naples or Sicily, whilst in the north, Alghero faces towards Spain and their language is actually Catalan! But the island’s soul lies in the wild hills of the Gennargentu Mountains where we stay in remarkable Su Gologone, near the intriguing ‘bandit’ town of Orgosolo. Here we take 4WDs in the rugged ravines, where wolves still roam, for a shepherd’s picnic lunch.

In Corsica, we stay next to the mega yachts right in the heart of the marina port, beneath Bonifacio's awesome cliff top citadel, Napoleon’s historical birth town of Ajaccio, and the pretty port town of Calvi with its myriad of al fresco restaurants and shops. We take stunning coastal drives; relax over lunch in the citadel of Sartène, and in the ancient capital of Corte wedged between 2 inhospitable mountain ranges, multi-coloured Bosa, and the distinctly French port of L’ile Rouse. In Sardinia we take delightful cruises to the exquisite Neptune’s Caves, and out into the glorious Costa Smeralda, and from Calvi, along the Corsican cliffs to the dramatic UNESCO listed Scandola Nature Reserve.
