What tour did you travel on?
When did you travel?
12 December, 2019
Why did you select this particular tour?
Being a 14 year old it was really my parents who selected this tour - however, they did ask for my input on their 'shortlist' of tours. I am happy to say that this tour did get my vote because of the variety of countries, activities plus of course the Christmas markets.
Who did you travel with?
My mum and dad.
Have you travelled with us previously?
Well, my parents have done many an Albatross tour (4 in total) - one of which was before I was born. So this tour was my third. Previously (when I was 3) I travelled on the Slovenian Alps and New Years in Paris tours.
What was your favourite place/s on your Albatross tour?
I am not sure I really have a favourite, as I have many favourites for many different reasons. I enjoyed Aosta in the Italian Alps because of the magical Christmas markets. Leukerbad was another favourite as my parents bought a sledge for me to use in our free time, also build a snowman.
Klosters was like a fairytale as we enjoyed a horse drawn carriage ride. Bavaria was also a favourite as I got to visit Neuschwanstein for a second time in my life, but this time I will remember my experience given I am 10 years older.
What was the most amazing thing you saw or did on your Albatross tour?
I thought visiting the top of Europe - Jungfraujoch - as I have never been this high before (except when in a place of course) and because I got to spend time in the ice palace & visit the highest Lindt shop in the world.
A-mazing.
Tell us about your most memorable moment on tour?
For me this was all the snowball fights I had with various people on the tour - especially on Christmas day. A lot of laughs were shared.
What was your favourite meal on tour?
My favourite meal was the Christmas eve dinner - as this is really like our Christmas Day dinner, and because there were two meat courses (duck breast & beef fillet). I am totally a carnivore.
What advice do you have for anyone interested in travelling on this tour?
My advice would be to enjoy every moment and participate in all the activities - especially the extra ones thought of or organised by the tour guide. On our tour these were things like snow shoeing and a walk on with a local (the Kloster's hotel owner) on Christmas day, a trip to First station in Grindlewald. Also, my tour guide (Gilberto) always checked with me to see if I wanted my own map - which I thought was very nice.
Would you recommend this tour to family and friends?
For sure - it was just like being in a Christmas fairytale with snowflakes.
