Norway

When it comes to unique travel destinations, Norway is hard to beat! This stunning country is located in Northern Europe, famous for its majestic fjords (long, narrow shorelines created by glaciers), rugged mountains, picturesque towns, and Viking history.

One of the more iconic sights of Norway is Bergen, a beautiful coastal town with brightly coloured houses that looks like something out of a fairytale. The city also offers a rich cultural heritage with historic buildings, museums, and galleries. A lively fishing culture provides excellent fresh seafood that must be eaten to be believed!

The Geirangerfjord is one of Norway's most iconic fjords and is known for its dramatic landscapes and pristine untouched beauty featuring waterfalls and steep cliffs that line the shore.

The Lofoten Islands are another highlight of Norway, a remote archipelago in the Arctic Circle with dramatic landscapes and quaint fishing villages. Visitors can explore the islands by hiking, kayaking, or cycling, enjoying views of the towering mountains and pristine beaches.

Norway offers visitors a perfect blend of history, culture, and natural beauty. The country's Viking heritage is evident and lasting. Whether you’re a history buff or love scenic beauty, Norway should be on everybody's travel list.

When to Visit Norway

Norway’s weather can be temperamental at the best of times, so it's best to visit Norway during its summer months of June through August when the weather is warmer. Even in summer, you want to pack some warm clothes, in case the weather changes or if you’re heading to a higher altitude.

Some of Norway’s attractions are only open during specific seasons and certain hikes and areas can even be unreachable during winter. So if there is one specific destination you have your eye on, make sure you do your research before planning your trip!

Norway's Cuisine

Norway’s pristine coastlines and water makes for a great sight, but it also makes for amazing seafood, so it’s no surprise that fish makes up a huge part of the Norwegian diet. Cultural dishes include Fårikål (lamb and cabbage stew), Lutefisk (dried cod soaked in lye), Raspeballer (potato dumplings), and dried cod head. Most Norwegians eat a small breakfast and lunch, with dinner being the most important meal of the day. It’s also common to eat a small evening meal before bed.
